Powerplus was appointed to upgrade the lighting system at Nottingham Motorpoint Arena. The project aimed to align the arena’s lighting with the International Ice Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) stringent requirements for high-definition broadcast.
Powerplus collaborated with Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) to install Philips LED and Interact Sports solutions. The technologies were chosen to guarantee flicker-free and super slow-motion replay capabilities, essential for capturing every moment of the action, both for the spectators in the arena and the television audience.
The installation also featured Philips UniFlood C Pro colour changing (RGBW) luminaires, designed to enhance the overall viewing experience of spectators attending events at the Ice Arena.
Project challenges

Managing logistics in a venue that operates 365 days a year demanded meticulous planning. The Powerplus team had to coordinate the installation activities efficiently to minimize disruptions to the regular operations of the Ice Arena.
