Having had to cancel last year’s event due to the pandemic, we are especially delighted that our annual golf day will return to the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club in Meriden, Warwickshire, on Wednesday 23 June. The SAPCA Open 2021 will be the twentieth time that the competition has taken place; it will be played on the magnificent “Arden” Championship course. We would now like to invite members to book places.
After the record entry in 2019, when all of the 72 available places were taken, we are expecting another successful event this summer, particularly as the day will provide a much anticipated opportunity to socialise and network with friends and colleagues, new and old, from across the industry. While there does of course remain a degree of uncertainty about any event as we emerge from the current restrictions, our golf day is scheduled to take place very shortly after the government’s roadmap is due to release us from the last of the legal limits on social contact. Please be aware that, should it be necessary, we will work with the venue to adjust the format of the day to ensure full compliance with any health and safety requirements that may still be in place.
The programme for the day is:
• Tea, coffee, bacon rolls on arrival from 8.30 am onwards.
• Use of the driving range.
• The SAPCA Open: 18-hole, two-player team competition from 10.30 am, with a two-tee start.
• Refreshments available at “The Halfway House”.
• Speciality holes of nearest the pin, longest drive, and beat the pro.
• Relaxation at the 19th hole.
• Three course Golfers’ Dinner at 7.00 pm.
• Presentation of the prizes.
Thanks to the generous support of TigerTurf, the cost for the full day is just £100 (+ VAT) per person. Member companies can enter one or more teams of two players, and/or individuals to be paired with other players. Members may also invite additional guests or colleagues to the Golfers’ Dinner in the evening, at a cost of £35 (+ VAT) per person – indeed any members that do not golf but would just like to attend the Dinner would be most welcome too.

As you will see, when booking you can either make a payment online, or if you prefer, request an invoice that will be due for payment by 31 May.
Joining instructions (including tee times and confirmation of the format of the competition) will be sent out to all participants in advance.
Golf buggies can be hired at a cost of £40 for 18 holes; these should be booked in advance via the Pro Shop, but details will be provided in due course.
Hotel accommodation
Overnight B&B accommodation at the Hotel can be booked online at the special rate of £100 (inc. VAT) for a single room, or £110 (inc. VAT) for a twin, using the link here.
We have an allocation of bedrooms held for the night of Wednesday 23 June, and a smaller number for the Tuesday night as well, should anyone prefer to arrive the day before. These are all available on a first come, first served basis.
