As part of SAPCA’s strategy to work together with a wide range of partners, we are arranging a webinar with Volunteer It Yourself (VIY).
VIY helps young people learn trade skills while helping to renovate vital community facilities. It encourages and assists young people, aged 14-24, to help repair and refurbish community places and spaces, while learning vocational trade skills on the job.
VIY learners are mentored by professional tradespeople and can work towards and gain Entry Level City & Guilds trade skills accreditations. It works with young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) or at risk of disengagement/exclusion from mainstream education and training.
So far, VIY has helped transform more than 750 local community places and spaces across the UK since it launched in 2011 – including community sports facilities.
The webinar is an opportunity for SAPCA members to learn more about VIY and the way it operates. There are a number of ways in which SAPCA members might be able to collaborate with VIY – from them finding entry level staff and apprentices, to signposting clients to VIY for extra help on projects.
The webinar will take place on Friday 13 October at 11am. To join in, please use the button below.
