Fields in Trust is an independent charity with over 90 years’ experience protecting parks and green spaces. We work with landowners, community groups and policymakers to champion the value of our parks and green spaces to achieve better protection for their future at both local and national level. We protect land through a Deed of Dedication (or Minute of Agreement in Scotland), a binding legal commitment with the landowner which allows parks and green spaces to be protected in perpetuity for current and future generations to enjoy. Because once lost, they are lost forever.
Parks and green spaces in the UK are under threat from development, even though they are proven to help people stay physically and mentally well; these are places where we can all exercise, relax and connect with our neighbours.
Our long-established Guidance for Outdoor Sport and Play: Beyond the Six Acre Standard <www.fieldsintrust.org/guidance> is a well-used tool to support landowners, individuals or community groups wanting to engage with Local Neighbourhood Plans on the provision of parks and green spaces.
Our Awards celebrate the people and organisations who make the UK’s parks and green spaces the best they can be and the UK’s Best Park Award each year celebrates the parks and green spaces chosen and voted for by the public.
We have offices in London, Cardiff and Dundee and operate throughout the UK.
