We have earned an enviable reputation for providing high quality designs and construction for all types of sports surfaces, artificial grass, natural grass or polymeric surfaces. We are financially strong, and have constructed in excess of 650 artificial pitches, 22 athletics tracks and numerous tennis courts and MUGA’s.
We design and construct high quality facilities to meet FIFA, FIH, RFU IRB and IAAF requirements.
We specialise in sustainable drainage design and sports surface engineering. Our designs take in to account the prevailing ground conditions, investigation reports, environmental conditions etc. Our design calculations are based on facts, they demonstrate the design works and can be proven, enabling us to offer complete design assurance to clients.
Some of our notable Design and Build projects at present include:
LOCOG – Olympic Warm-Up Track and Athlete Drop-off Area adjacent to the main stadium. Track surface is Mondo all as per the main stadium track.
Charterhouse – Two National Standard Hockey Pitches, six Tennis Courts, Training Pitch, Spectator Viewing Terraces are all part of Phase 1.
Sport England – We have been awarded a place on the SE National 4-year Framework for artificial sports surface projects, many of which are featured in the “Inspired Catalogue”
The FA and RFU – We are on The FA and RFU National 4-year Framework for 3G artificial sports surfaces across the UK. We have been awarded 4 Full-size 3G pitch projects via this contract so far.

The Smith Plant fleet uses the latest laser controlled technology, and is constantly being expanded and upgraded to meet the stringent demands of our own in-house projects and those of our plant hire customers.
Operating a diverse fleet of over 100 specialist items of high quality plant and machinery for sports construction, general civil engineering, ground stabilisation, groundworks and landscaping industries, we have developed a significant repeat customer base throughout the UK.
Our plant hire division operates an efficient transportation service using in-house low loader lorries to ensure timely delivery of plant to your site anywhere in the country.
