Founded in 1988 the Environmental Protection Group Ltd (widely known as EPG) provides special consultancy in flood risk mitigation, sustainable drainage, contaminated land remediation and related disciplines. The Company focus is on providing clients with practical, cost effective solutions to help develop sites.
Our ability to identify key risks and practical solutions early in the design process allow us to realise significant time cost savings on development projects. We aim to provide our clients with clear practical solutions that are acceptable t regulators, planners and are compliant with the requirements of sports-related bodies such as Sport England, FA and the various other associations.
Water Management for Sports & Activity Surfaces
Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS) is now established as the preferred approach to the management of rainfall run off from development sites; avoiding the potential hydrological and pollution problems associated with conventional drainage. The SUDS approach promotes the incorporation of source control techniques to collect, treat and store runoff before releasing it into the environment and seeks to derive amenity and biodiversity from the methods adopted. Thus, the aim of SUDS is to control flooding and prevent pollution and provide amenity and biodiversity for or the community whilst minimising the impact on the natural environment and is underpinned by current legislation, planning conditions and design guidance.
Our approach is straight forward in that we create designs that are technically first rate, commercially viable and compliant in all aspects of regulatory requirements. Furthermore, we regularly review the potential to incorporate sustainable techniques that reduce the overall carbon footprint and environmental impact associated with design solution.
Sports developments are especially suited to source control drainage and we regularly develop integrated solutions that combine playing areas with associated buildings and infrastructure.
Our Design Services include:
- Flood risk assessments
- Specialist advice on conceptual drainage designs and planning approval
- Detailed design of SUDS
- Associated geotechnical and underground structural assessments
- Management and maintenance procedures for SUDS
- Rain water harvesting and re-use design
- Ground Settlement and slope stability analysis
- Retrofit SUDS design
- Temporary sports events
- BREEAM Assessments
- Contaminated ground remediation designs
Our leading edge status is underpinned by our continuous commitment towards research into the development of new design techniques and innovative technologies, which is demonstrated by our contribution to a wide range of initiatives including production of independent design guidance, dissemination of design best practice, provision of design workshops and management of testing and validation protocols for leading manufacturers.
