Lower Bentham Playground, near Lancaster, required a playful environment where children were safe to run around and explore in a safe and secure space.
HAGS successfully bid for the contract which also included new play equipment. The play space was divided into two areas for juniors and toddlers giving space for each to move around freely.
Working with DCM a variety of brightly coloured shapes were created using wetpour. Wet Pour is made of granulated rubber crumb and is ideal for surfaces requiring impact protection such as playgrounds and play areas. It has passed the most comprehensive testing criteria which includes critical fall height, flammability, indentation and abrasive wear. It also allows for a huge choice of colours, shapes, and play features, including mounds to be sculptured.
The play equipment installed included the Titan; a thrilling and fast-moving adventure inspired by a fairground ride. Its unique five-arm tilted overhead design gives it an unusual and exhilarating flying sensation for that added edge that children are looking for today. The Nexus Core is an activity phenomenon that can be used by all ages. Three gantry posts are designed and built to replicate tree climbing. A honeycomb ladder gives access to those less able whilst the rockface is a true challenge. In addition, because it’s so compact, it really encourages social interaction.
