Smith Construction are proud to have completed another project at a County FA headquarters, with a new 3G pitch recently installed at the County Ground in Letchworth, home of Hertfordshire FA.
The project was awarded to Smith Construction via the Football Foundation Framework. Founded in 2000, the Football Foundation is the largest sports charity in the UK funded by the Premier League, The FA and Government, via Sport England.
After overcoming the sloping ground issues involved when building a new pitch, whilst ensuring it met the existing pathways and infrastructure, Smith Construction installed a Limonta Duo Shape P + 50mm carpet, an excellent product manufactured by official FIFA preferred producers of artificial football turf, Limonta Sport. The pitch, which has been constructed to comply with FIFA Quality standards will be maintained by our expert, in-house maintenance team.
The new all-weather pitch will enable the local community and clubs to utilise the facilities at the County Ground more than ever before, from training and matches through to coach and referee education courses, without risk of cancellation due to poor weather.
Hertfordshire FA County Development Manager and Acting CEO, Karl Lingham, said “We are excited to be able to open our new artificial pitch here at the County Ground and can now look forward to this site becoming a real community hub for football in this area.
