WR Reg 22 Rugby Pitch
Partners TigerTurf and McArdle Sport Tec were delighted to be awarded the Chippenham RFC’s tender through the Rugby Football Union framework. Furthermore, we were thrilled to complete the construction 4 weeks ahead of programme, a very small consolation to the club allowing them to utilise the pitch earlier than scheduled.
The construction works went perfectly, meticulous planning and organisation from our project specific team ensured all stages went accordingly to plan, our groundworks team made such advanced progress on our pitch foundations that the following additional build stages all needed to be brought forwards and planned appropriately.
The club officially opened their new 3G rugby pitch on the 17th November 2019, hosting a weekend full of events and prestigious guests including: Junior Vice President of the RFU Nigel Gillingham, Dorset and Wiltshire RFU Stuart Murrow, Stove, Mayor of Chippenham Cllr Densa Allen, Brian Ashton MBE ex England coach, Steve Borthwick Leicester Tigers head coach & Tom Dunn Bath RFC player and current Chippenham club member.
Ian Bannister- Chairman of Chippenham RFC: “We recently had an Artificial Grass Pitch installed and managed by McArdle Sport at Chippenham Rugby Club. We were really impressed by the team at McArdle’s who provided advice and support at the pre-commencement stage sharing their experience and putting the club members at ease. This gave us the confidence that the right contractor had been appointed and as we moved into the build stage, we had regular communication with the site team who were not only consummate professionals but also understood the requirements of the club. The whole project went very smoothly and in fact finished four weeks ahead of schedule which was a great surprise to the club however it meant our members could get early use of the pitch.I would recommend McArdle Sport to other clubs who need not only a professional contractor but also one that always considers the needs of the club.”
Paul Lockyer – Site Manager McArdle Sport Tec: “This was a perfect ‘text-book’ project, everything went smoothly to plan, so much so, that after making great progress preparing and laying foundations, arrangements were made to bring forwards the next stages of the build to ensure the project would not be held up,
‘The advancement of our groundworks also took into consideration the careful and meticulous management of an existing foul pipe which ran through the pitch foundations, I had arranged multiple cctv monitoring of the pipe which was carried out to ensure the stability of the structure throughout the build. Regular communication with ourselves and the Club ensured that our operations were effective with no interferences.”
