For more than a decade, SAPCA member Covair Structures has worked with Caesarean Lawn Tennis Club (LTC) to make all-season play possible in Jersey. What began as a practical answer to winter weather has become something far more valuable: a foundation for growth, coaching excellence, and a thriving sporting community. The modern structures have become part of the island’s DNA. They make year-round play a possibility and are a reminder to everyone that tennis in Jersey never stops.
“We’re the only tennis club on the island with dedicated indoor courts. Without them, winter tennis would barely exist,” says Club Manager Jonathan Rubber.
Today, Caesarean LTC operates two Covair domes: a permanent two-court structure and a seasonal four-court dome, covering six of the club’s ten courts. This ensures coaching sessions, matches, and regular play can continue regardless of weather conditions.
“The domes underpin the feasibility of having a club like this in Jersey,” says Jonathan. “Without them, you’d be talking about a completely different organisation.”
He also notes the financial benefits: “Our domes generate revenue through modest court fees, which help cover lighting and maintenance,” he explains.
Head of Tennis Scott Weaver describes the impact as transformative. “Before the domes, we struggled against constant bad weather. Kids now play 30–40 per cent more tennis, and the improvement is clear.”
“It’s not just about playing tennis,” Scott adds. “It’s about keeping people connected, active, and part of something bigger. For many of our members, it’s their first time playing indoors. The light, the scale, and the sound of the ball echoing around the space make it feel special.”
“More than structures, our domes have become symbols of the club’s ambition, and of our defiance in the face of wind, rain and snow,” he concludes.
