Butlin’s Bognor Regis’ much anticipated new swimming complex is becoming a reality.
The project, which took two years to complete and cost £40million can accommodate almost 1,000 guests. It has unique seaside and fairground-themed rides, as well as a wave pool and special area for toddlers.
Kier was the successful bidder for the contract, and following a rigorous selection process based on quality, cost and Health and Safety, selected DCM Surfaces to install synthetic surfacing for three main areas around the complex.
DCM Surfaces was in a unique position to deliver all elements of synthetic surfacing, which included the installation of an Artificial Grass safety surface, Resin Bound Gravel pathway, and Rubber Mulch, which was used to fill several treepits. A core requirement of the install was that each surface would be permeable, allowing water to drain through and ensure that it could be used all year-round.
A Rubber Shockpad was installed beneath the Artificial Grass to provide a soft, impact absorbing layer for children to run and play. The installation, which was completed in March 2019, covered an area of over 1000sqm.
