When Essex-based Wickham Bishops Tennis Club needed to resurface and respray all four of its hard courts, they chose to return to ETC Sports as the company that originally laid the courts in 2004.
Having consulted with its own members, the club’s committee decided that the late summer would be the right time to resurface all four courts with a 6mm porous asphalt – known as Courtfalt and supplied by Hanson. The surface was chosen for its high performance and durability, combined with its guaranteed drainage properties which ensure that tennis courts are ready for play in optimum time following bad or wet weather.
Wickham Bishops Tennis Club needed to turn the resurfacing project around as quickly as possible, to avoid the courts being out of service for any longer than necessary. The ETC Sports team were onsite from the 30 July and re-laid all courts within just six weeks. A particular benefit for the club was the fact that ETC Sports incorporated respraying into the main project works. This achieved a significant time saving, as the club’s committee had previously been told by other possible contractors that respraying might not be possible until the following spring.
The revitalised hard courts are now fully up and running and being enjoyed by social and competitive players of all ages. Vice Chairman, Graham Taylor, said: “We are very pleased with the work carried out by ETC Sports Surfaces in resurfacing our hard courts, both on time and on budget. We have enjoyed a good relationship throughout the process and any issues for discussion were resolved quickly and to our mutual satisfaction.”
