As the Football Foundation continues to fund the introduction of new 3G football pitches around the country, the launch of a new guide outlines some of the key considerations that need to be made by schools and clubs before investing in a new pitch.
‘Grass appeal: A guide to choosing the best 3G football pitch’ has been published by TigerTurf, the UK’s leading artificial grass manufacturer, and outlines the benefits a 3G football pitch can bring to community football, as well as the sport as a whole.
With the financial chasm between the Premier League and lower rungs of the football pyramid wider than ever, the guide argues that not only will 3G pitches ensure that those at grassroots level have access to good quality, durable pitches but also give communities and clubs the opportunity to open up new revenue streams.
From tips for accessing funding, through to advice on how to choose the right 3G surface, the guide provides expert advice from surface specialists at TigerTurf, with a supporting case study from Cirencester Football Club and comment from the Football Foundation.
Paul Langford, Managing Director at TigerTurf UK, commented: “Football has always been one of the most popular sports in this country but with the excitement of this year’s World Cup, we anticipate even greater levels of participation moving forward. With this guide, we hope to encourage more to consider having a 3G pitch installed, in order to make both our facilities and the future of the sport as strong as possible.”
