Labosport are pleased to announce the appointment of David James as Managing Director Labosport Ltd (UK). David will manage the operations and development of Labosport UK, starting as of 1 December 2018.
David has been working in the field of sports engineering for 18 years, boasts an impressive academic career and was previously the Director of the Centre for Sports Engineering Research (CSER) at Sheffield Hallam University, the world’s largest academic group in sports engineering with 20 full time staff and £1.5m annual budget.
David graduated from the University of Sheffield with MEng Mechanical Engineering. During his degree he also studied at Grenoble INP. David’s PhD was sponsored by the England and Wales Cricket Board and focused on the effects of pitch construction on the dynamics of the cricket ball bounce.
In addition to his subsequent Director role at CSER, David founded and developed Sports Engineering degree courses, has organized two major international conventions and is a visiting Professor at TU Delft, Netherlands.
Through his work with international sports federations, PhD/MSc project supervision and knowledge transfer work with the Sport industry, David has sustained a significant contribution to research with projects under his lead totaling a cumulative value in excess of £2m. In 2018, he was awarded the title of Professor of Sports Engineering.
