A new full-size 3G football pitch has opened at East Riding Leisure Centre in Haltemprice. The £2.1m project was funded by a £975,000 grant from the Football Foundation and further contributions from East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The project was delivered by a team of SAPCA members. Built by S&C Slatter, the 97m x 61m 3G community football pitch has a FieldTurf XM7 60-12 playing surface installed on a Trocellen 7012 pre-formed shockpad. The 3G system also features an EnviroStik seaming system and Genan SBR infill – completing the impressive line up of SAPCA members.

Other features include 4.5m sports fencing, perimeter acoustic fencing, spectator areas and LED floodlighting.

The pitch meets both FIFA Quality and World Rugby Regulation 22 standards, providing a high-performance, durable surface for multi-sport community use.

Three local football clubs – Hessle Sporting, Hessle Rangers and Priory – have partnered with East Riding of Yorkshire Council and have now secured regular usage slots on the pitch, with organised sessions commencing in June.

Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, tourism and leisure at East Riding of Yorkshire Council said: ‘’We are delighted to see the completion of this fantastic new 3G pitch at East Riding Leisure Haltemprice. It represents a significant investment in local sport and will provide a high-quality facility for players of all ages and abilities.

“As a weather-resilient surface, the 3G pitch will ensure year-round access and reduce disruption caused by poor ground conditions. This will make a real difference to grassroots football in the area, helping more people to stay active and enjoy the game.”
