Eastleigh Borough Council and the Football Association (FA) have joined forces to develop an FA Parklife Football Hub at Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh, Hampshire.
One of the biggest football hubs in the country, the £8 million project received significant funding from the Football Foundation, Sport England and the Premier League. Together with investment from the Council, the new hub has a 3G Stadia pitch, 3G training and competition pitches, natural grass pitches, pavilion, clubroom, café, educational space and a 350 space car park.
Sports Minister and Eastleigh MP, Mims Davies, was given a tour of the new state-of-the-art football hub facilities that will soon be benefiting thousands of footballers of all ages and abilities. She said “As the local MP it’s fantastic to see facilities and opportunities like this to help local people to be more active. I’m really delighted to see the local Council and the FA coming together in a partnership to produce this superb facility that will help transform the lives of so many people.”
The FA’s Chief Commercial and Football Development Officer, Mark Bullingham, said the Parklife centre was a state-of–the-art venue and one he was proud to showcase to Eastleigh MP and Sports Minister, Mims Davies.
Mark Bullingham thanked the local council and Hampshire FA Chief Executive, Neil Cassar, for their work with the Football Foundation, ensuring the original vision for the site is now a reality.
Principal Contractors, Smith Construction, have demonstrated specialist skills and pitch building capabilities, managing the whole project, communicating progress with clients and will continue to maintain the sports surfaces.
World class FIFA Preferred Producers Limonta, manufacturers of high quality 3G football turf, formed a joint venture with Smith Construction nine years ago; Limonta-Smith JV. Together they build some of the UK’s best facilities on the FA/RFU/FF National Framework for the design and construction of artificial pitches.
Managing Director, Ken Smith, said “It has been a pleasure to work with the FA, Football Foundation and Eastleigh Borough Council on this FA Parklife Hub and we are looking forward to handing over a superb new venue for players and spectators to enjoy. Now known as Stoneham Lane Football Complex.”
