The Women in SAPCA networking group hosted its latest event last week – an online coaching session led by executive coach, Jason Douglass. Those attending had the opportunity to identify themes that they felt might be holding them back in their professional growth – and explore ways to tackle them by taking positive steps.

In total, 16 women from SAPCA member companies joined the highly informative session. The participants held various job roles within the sports and play construction industry and were each encouraged to bring topics relating to their work experiences they would like to be coached on. Douglass coached the group on common topics to better recognise their personal capabilities and professional achievements.

During the two-hour session, those attending were introduced to some self-awareness techniques and tips on how to find effective ways to evaluate their key strengths, personal and professional achievements and how to use the information to assist in their everyday work environments.

“We explored several topics associated with everyday challenges and opportunities,” Douglass said. “Looking forward towards what is a better version of now, and having a vision of where you want to be, is a great place to start.

“In an environment of focus, honesty and support we worked together to find the best next steps in given situations. The session time flew by; the engagement was first-class; the cohort’s talent and skills were clear to see; and it was a real privilege to be a small part of their continuing journey.”

Christine Quinn, co-founder of the Women in SAPCA initiative, said: “There were so many thought-provoking conversations, with several members looking at implementing what we discussed.

“For anyone thinking of embarking on the journey of coaching, I couldn’t recommend Jason enough! His wealth of knowledge and experience is unrivalled.”

Women in SAPCA is a professional networking initiative set up to support the careers and future progression of women within the UK’s sports and play construction industry. The initiative was launched in January 2020.

The group organises events throughout the year, taking the form of workshops, talks and seminars.
