Blakedown Sport & Play worked in partnership with Woodfield Academy to design and build a full size 3G football pitch, spectator area and access roads.

The construction involved a 5 metre cut and fill earthworks operation, ground stabilisation and intricate drainage designs. The pitch was surfaced with a 60mm 3G Turf onto a fully engineered base and enclosed with a 4.5 metre high twin bar fence that included recess areas and cross court dividing nets.

In addition to the full-size pitch, Blakedown also remodelled the remaining existing grass pitches to provide a terraced level of three number natural grass 7 a side pitches. To complete the project, 8-column floodlighting system was installed to the pitch and amenity lighting to light the new 3 metre wide access road.

A spokesman from Woodfield Academy said: “We are so pleased to share our excitement at being the only middle school in the town and county with such an outstanding facility. With a spectator area, full height fencing and floodlighting this really is a superb school facility to be proud of.

“We aim to give our students great sporting opportunities to develop their skills for future years. It will also help expand a programme to develop sport within the local community.”
