SAPCA - Inside Track

28 January 2021

Welcome to our first Inside Track Newsletter of 2021. It's been a very busy January, so as we end the month here's a reminder of some of the activities taking place.

With so many people working from home our programme of HR webinars resumes tomorrow with expert advice from Clover on improving remote working. Women in SAPCA "Share a Cuppa"

Women in SAPCA Graphic

To kick off its second year, Women in SAPCA is organising a "Share a Cuppa" event, open to all women working in the sector. Taking place at 3.00 pm on Friday 29 January via Zoom, the event will offer an introduction to the initiative and an update on how it will move forwards in 2021.

Kathryn Severn explains: "The aim of 'Share a Cuppa' is to arrange monthly calls with either another female from SAPCA or within a group - small or large group, depending on the consensus - for around 30 minutes to network and chat with a cuppa. This will help us stay in touch with industry colleagues, while we're all having to work virtually and unable to meet in person at networking events."

If you're interested in finding out more and joining the first call, please email Kathryn in advance for the invitation details. kathryn.severn@footballfoundation.org.uk.

New SAPCA Showcase to Promote Members

We plan to introduce a new service - the SAPCA Showcase - to enhance the ways we which we promote SAPCA members to potential clients.

Using the webinar format, the idea is to provide a regular opportunity for interested members to share information about what they have to offer. We envisage a monthly webinar, with four to six 15-minute slots in which individual member companies can present themselves, their products and their services, to an online audience.

We will advertise the special SAPCA Showcase webinars across the marketplace but, as we do with our other webinars, we will also then use the recordings to build up a "library" of short presentations to enhance the information available on the SAPCA website.

To trial this idea, we plan to present a pilot SAPCA Showcase next month (February), and we are therefore inviting expressions of interest from any members that are interested.

If you would like to know more, contact Chris Trickey at chris@sapca.org.uk by Wednesday 3 February.

New Members' Area of the SAPCA Website

Image of coming soon

We are in the process of adding content to the new Members' Area, which will serve as a "library" of useful information, including: copies of technical documents; links to the recordings of all our webinars; presentations from events, such as the SAPCA Conferences and Technical Meetings; access to our regular communications with the membership; a library of photos from our events; as well as details of the various benefits of membership and the support provided by our partners and sponsors.

The Members' Area will be the place to go to find out details of future events and activities and to make bookings to attend. We are also planning other features, such as a forum to facilitate and promote communication and networking within the SAPCA community. Each member company will also have their own individual "account" within the Members' Area, where they can access information specific to them.

The first thing we need to do is to ensure that all members will have access. Everyone that works for a SAPCA member company or organisation will have individual access to the Members' Area using a username (their email address) and a password (which will be personalised).

We would like each member company to nominate an individual who will be their Key Contact - a sort of "gatekeeper" - in relation to the SAPCA website. This person will be responsible for making changes to their Member Profile and updating the full list of other individuals that are within our database, and who will be given access to the Members' Area.

Please contact Chris Trickey at chris@sapca.org.uk to provide the name and email address of the person that you would like to be the Key Contact for your access to the SAPCA website.

To give members a little more time to prepare and submit their entries, the deadline has been extended to Monday 15 February.

The five categories in which Awards will be presented are:

  • Facility projects
  • Products
  • Innovations
  • Sustainable practices and solutions
  • Marketing initiatives

For facility projects, we would like to see as many entries as possible, whether sports or play, indoor or outdoor, synthetic or natural, large or small, and we may present more than one Award according to the number and scope of the entries received.

Members should submit text to describe their entry (typically about 250 words though there is no upper limit), together with supporting images (photos and/or video).

Please send all entries to: awards@sapca.org.uk.
