Gail Emms MBE
Gail Emms is a British badminton player who has achieved international success at the very top of the game. A badminton player since the age of four, Gail was first chosen to represent England in 1995 and regularly played for her country ever since. Along with partner Nathan Robertson she has been World Champion, No. 1 in the world rankings at mixed doubles, European, Commonwealth, and All England Champion, and Olympic silver medallist in Athens 2004, then retiring from the game after the Beijing 2008 Olympics,
But Gail’s expertise doesn’t end on the court. Since retiring from professional badminton, she has seamlessly transitioned into the realm of sports presenting, captivating audiences on esteemed platforms like Sky Sports, BT Sport, Channel 5, and BBC 5Live. In 2016, Gail expanded her repertoire, igniting a passion for hosting awards, conferences, and charity dinner evenings. Yet, the need for sport was calling, and Gail is often found whacking, or smashing balls on a padel or pickleball court – yes you can love both. Drawing upon her love for hospitality, public speaking, and sports, Gail now creates bespoke padel events tailored to the company or organsation’s needs.
Gail has written two books; The Lost Lionesses – the story of the 1971 women’s world cup and the women that played in the tournament in Mexico (included her mum, Jan), as well as her autobiography, ‘Grit and Goose Feathers’.
