In this issue, ukactive CEO, Huw Edwards, explains how the physical activity sector can play a crucial role in tackling some of the biggest challenges faced by the UK government – from easing pressures on the NHS to stimulating economic growth. The key to this, Edwards says, is to frame the conversations the sector organisations have with government, in order for policymakers to understand the practical ways that sport and exercise can help.

There is also a look at how England Netball has successfully grown its participation numbers since the pandemic and an informative piece on TrackMark, the scheme launched by UK Athletics and England Athletics, which has revolutionised the way athletics venues are redeveloped.

Elsewhere, Eugene Minogue – executive director of Play England, an affiliate SAPCA member – outlines the importance of play while Trafford Wilson, CEO of Pentathlon GB, reveals how the sport is changing both at the elite and grassroots levels.

For those attending the 2023 SAPCA Technical Meeting, this issue also includes a preview of the event, as well as the official programme and information on the speakers.
